CALLED BY DEATH

One of the most widely known
men in this part of the country, Mr.
Levi B. Hoover, passed away at his
home on Main street, Stouffville at
eight o'clock on Wednesday morn-
ing, Feb'y 24th, 1926, in his 66th
year. Although in failing healt for
some years, Mr. Hoover was only
seriously ill a couple of days.
Deceased was a son of the late
Daniel Hoover of Markham, and for
years Levi carried an extensive
farm implement agency here, being
regarded as one of the most success-
ful agents ever in the employ of the
Masseys. He was of a family of ten
children and was born on the 10th
of Markham, being of Pennsylvania
Dutch parentage. Generally liked by
his fellowmen, he had a wide range
of friends, and was known to almost
everybody in these parts. Of late
years he had lived more or less of a
retired life, and although not in
good health was a very corpulant
man, weighing 240 pounds.
The late Mr. Hoover is survived
by a wife but no family. There also
survives eight brothers and sisters:
Mrs. Henry Meyer and Mrs. John
Hare of Markham, Mrs. Nelson
Mowder and Mrs. Jos. Mowder of
Stouffville, also two unmarried sis-
ters, Misses Mila and Mima of To-
ronto, and two brothers Alfred and
Ludwick of Stouffville. Joshua
Hoover, another brother died sud-
denly in October 1924.
The funeral on Friday will be
held to Stouffville cemetery, follow-
ing service at the late residence at
2 o'clock.
